Are Student Loan Debtors on Strike?

Student Loan Debtors on Strike

A recent article in U-T San Diego addresses the growing concerns of students burdened with hefty student loans from their for-profit education. For-profit education has come under increased scrutiny following Corinthian Colleges’ dissolution due to poor performance and predatory lending coupled with sky high prices. Corinthian Colleges Inc. which also operated under Everest College, Herald College, and Wyotech left thousands of students with junk degrees, no degrees, and plenty of student loan debt.

Following the federal government closure of Corinthian, a growing number of students are refusing to repay their federal and private student loans. Some with over six figures in student loans feel they have nothing to show for their for-profit education. Currently the Department of Education, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and politicians are deciding what to do with this growing movement. In San Diego, CA, are you burdened by student loans from one of these for-profit schools?
