David A. Taran is Lead Attorney at the McCarthy Law PLC Sherman Oaks office, and a member of the California Bar. He attended the California State University, Northridge, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Business Law. David graduated from CSUN on the Dean’s list and received recognition for his academic achievements. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law (King Hall).
David worked as a Judicial Clerk for a Superior Court Judge in Sacramento, where he gained litigation experience and participated in many trials. Additionally he consulted at the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, where he enforced California law and Federal Civil Rights law to eradicate discrimination in the workplace. David also worked as a law clerk at an employment law firm specializing in discrimination and whistleblower protection. In recognition of his interest and efforts in the public sector, David received a Public Service Law Honors award from the University of California Davis School of Law.
Prior to attending law school, David worked in residential lending including wholesale mortgage brokers and direct lenders. David originated many first and second mortgages, home equity lines of credit, and helped clients with loan modifications to attain lower interest rates and principal balance reductions saving his clients hundreds of thousand of dollars. Because he has experience working with creditors, David is familiar with the Truth in Lending Act, Bank Secrecy Acts, and other banking regulations that affect clients’ rights.
At McCarthy Law PLC, David helps people facing harassment and lawsuits from their creditors. This allows clients to quickly get out of debt and move on with their lives while protecting their privacy and rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the California Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
