Michael D. Schmitt is a licensed attorney in New York State serving western and upstate New York.

Michael has 17 years of experience practicing in the areas of Matrimonial Law, Family Law, Criminal Defense and Personal Injury. He is dedicated to understanding the interests of his clients while working toward the most beneficial resolutions for each individual situation.

Prior to earning his law degree from Cleveland Marshall Law School, Michael obtained an undergraduate degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and was admitted to the New York State Bar Association in 1999. Michael served as the Deputy County Attorney in Monroe County, and subsequently established his own practice in 2006.

Michael values each client whether he or she owns little or has extensive business and investment assets. He has experience working with accountants, appraisers and investigators to develop an accurate inventory and valuation of marital or individual property. He has the knowledge to view and analyze financial statements and business records to spot signs of missing or mischaracterized assets.
